How to be an Executor 101

Being named executor is an honor. It's also one of the most challenging responsibilities you'll ever take on.

Most people accept the role with little understanding of what it actually involves. The will provides instructions for distributing assets, but it doesn't prepare you for the hundreds of decisions, tasks, paperwork and potential pitfalls that lie ahead.

In this session, you'll discover:

  • What you're really signing up for: The full picture from "I accept" to "the estate is closed"
  • Your actual to-do list: The practical tasks that will fill the next 12-18 months
  • The surprises nobody mentions: From tracking down assets to managing the deceased's digital accounts
  • The emotional complexity: Making decisions while grieving and managing family members who are also hurting
  • Where people get stuck: Common roadblocks and how to avoid them
  • How to stay organized: Simple systems to manage paperwork and deadlines

Join us for an honest conversation about what the executor journey involves and how to turn it into a manageable process you can actually navigate.

David Mulqueen is the founder of AnnCare, an executor assistant that works hand-in-hand with families to lift the weight of settling an estate. After watching his partner struggle through the maze of account closures, government notifications, and endless phone calls following the loss of a close family member, he couldn't help but think there had to be a better way. So he built one. With a background in digital marketing and business development, David brings an educational and relationship driven approach to a process most people don't think about until they're buried in it. When he's not working on AnnCare, you can find him outside in the Pacific Northwest pulling crab pots, hitting trails on his mountain bike or driving around town in his Japanese Firetruck.
